All Designers make mistakes, once you start your career there are a lot of things that you should NOT do.

Below are five design no-nos that you must avoid at all costs. I've made these mistakes myself and learned from them and I hope these will help you too.

1. Plagiarism

Being original is key, and trust me, others WILL find out if you are stealing other people's work.

2. Going Hard on Stock Images

Using stock images every once in a while is acceptable. It can save you time and money, from having to hire a photographer and shoot the perfect images for your work. But using them too often can really hurt you. You lose the originality from your work because there's a great chance that someone else will use the exact same stock image.

3. Not Proofreading

I can't stress enough how important it is to proofread. Always, always, always proofread your work and get someone else to read it as well!

4. Too Many Fonts

Consistency is key. As a rule, keep it at two fonts and weights to highlight and differentiate areas of your work.

5. Following Trends like it's a Religion

Making your work based on a current trend will definitely look dated and boring once that trend is a thing of the past. Think deeper, what will make your design give a great impression and last for a long period of time?
